A tribute to Joan Miro (1893-1983)
His art of age and innocence entwined
with brazen heart he childlike sought delight
to spark persisting forms with dreamer's mind
and paint our world in crayon colors bright
Through language fresh of tattered words renewed
reclaiming freedom's voice in cryptic bird
and scraps and croissants, meaning deep' imbued
he spoke of joy and sorrow, seldom stirred
His gift that common people might partake
to see our daily lives with clearer eyes
and find the wondrous placed here for our sake
so calls our dormant spirit to arise
This beacon cast enticing us to soar
revealed through garbage washed up on the shore.
