Web site design :: Photo Gallery

Behind the scenes:

Kevin built this site as a personal web gallery to share photos of his life and town with friends around the world. When approaching this project, he decided to build it so images could easily be added along with descriptive text and new categories, without having to create and edit each new addition by hand.

He achieved this goal by writing a program that runs on the web server, which builds each page and window on-the-fly. In order to add content, all you need to do is upload the new photos and include a description line in a plain-text file, the program does the rest.

Logo design

The heading graphic was inspired by Kevin's longstanding fascination with ravens. The typeface, which is free for personal use and called Astonished, adds a touch of character that would otherwise be missing.

Kevin took the photographs in the gallery with a digital camera and created the collages, displayed in the gallery, from photos in his personal collection—which you'll find featured on the Photo-digital collage section of this site.
